Apple Pie Baked Apples

  • 3 Pink Lady apples
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 refrigerated pie crust
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Caramel sauce for drizzling (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1 Prepare Filling: Core and dice one apple into small pieces. Combine in a small saucepan with sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon. Pour in water and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until apple softens and mixture thickens.
  2. 2 Prepare Apples: Remove the tops of the remaining two apples. Using a spoon, carefully hollow out the centers, leaving thick walls to hold the filling. Fill each apple with the cooked mixture.
  3. 3 Create Crust: On a lightly floured surface, roll out pie crust. Cut into thin strips. Weave strips over the tops of the filled apples to create a lattice pattern.
  4. 4 Cook: Brush lattice with beaten egg and dust with additional cinnamon sugar if desired. Air fry at 350°F / 180°C for 14 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and apples are tender.
  5. 5 Finish: Allow to cool for 5 minutes. For extra indulgence, drizzle warm caramel sauce over the top before serving.
