
Butter one side of each bread slice generously.
Place 2 slices butter-side down. Layer cheese (and any add-ins) on top. Close with remaining bread, butter-side up.
Place sandwiches in the basket. Air fry at 375°F for 4 minutes.
Flip carefully. Cook 3-4 more minutes until both sides are deeply golden and cheese is fully melted.
Cut diagonally and serve immediately.
Tip: Use softened butter all the way to the edges — dry corners burn. Sourdough holds up better than sandwich bread and adds tang that pairs perfectly with melted cheese.
