Ingredients

Dry Rub
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp cumin
Salt and pepper
Ribs
1 rack baby back ribs (about 2.5 lbs)
1 cup BBQ sauce
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp honey

  • Instant-Read Meat Thermometer

Steps

  1. 1

Remove membrane from back of ribs. Rub generously with the dry rub on all sides.

  2. 2

Cut rack in half to fit the air fryer. Wrap each half tightly in foil.

  3. 3

Air fry in foil at 380°F for 20 minutes to steam-tenderize.

  4. 4

Remove foil. Brush with BBQ sauce mixed with vinegar and honey.

  5. 5

Air fry unwrapped at 400°F for 8-10 minutes, brushing with more sauce halfway, until caramelized and sticky.

💡

Tip: The foil stage is critical — it steams the ribs tender. Without it, they'll be tough. The membrane on the back MUST come off or ribs won't be tender. Grab it with a paper towel for grip. The vinegar in the glaze cuts the sweetness.

Why Air Fry This?

  • ⏱️Ready in 30 minutes vs ~54 in a conventional oven — no preheating needed.
  • 🍖Circulating hot air renders fat and seals in juices for a crispier outside and tender inside.
  • ⚡Uses significantly less energy than heating a full-size oven for a single batch.
