
Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy, then mix in the egg and softened butter.
Stir in flour and salt until a soft dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm spot for 45 minutes until doubled in size.
Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces, shape each into a smooth ball, and place them in a parchment-lined air fryer basket with space between each roll.
Cook at 325°F for 12-14 minutes in batches until golden brown on top, brushing with melted butter and flaky salt immediately after removing.
Tip: Keep the temperature lower than you might expect — air fryers circulate heat aggressively and higher temps will brown the outside before the interior is fully baked.
